Union County authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man in grave condition in Plainfield early this morning.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 1300 block of West 3rd Street shortly before 3 a.m. sending heavy police presence to the scene where they located a male victim suffering injury from gunfire.
EMS rushed the victim to Robert Woods Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition with life threatening injuries as of 3:30 a.m.
The motive for the shooting and the identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office have been notified.
