A three-alarm fire tore through a Plainfield home and damaging two others early this morning.
Fire crews responded to the 200 Block of East Second Street on the report of a structure fire at approximately 2: 30 a.m.
On arrival, fire units had two 2 1/2 story single family homes heavily involved in fire with fire extending to a third home.
A second and third alarm were quickly struck bringing approximately 70 firefighters to the scene, including mutual aid.
Firefighters quickly contained the fire to the two original buildings and only causing minimal damage to a third structure.
Due to the main fire building partially collapsing, complete searches will be delayed until later today when structural stability can be assessed.
The fire is under investigation by Union County Investigative Team and Plainfield Police Division.
Four occupants were displaced and staying with family members and there were no injuries to emergency personnel or civilians at this time.
