The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office are investigating an overnight shooting involving a police officer that left one person dead in Brick.
Police were called to the 40's block of Cherrywood Circle at around 11:00 p.m. following a 9-1-1 call from a male who stated he was going to create a disturbance and immediately hung up, according to the prosecutor.
When police arrived, they were confronted by a white male who allegedy approached from the home with what appeared to be a dark colored object in his hand, the prosecutor's office said.
The prosecutor said, when the subject failed to comply with the officers' orders to drop the weapon, they discharged their duty weapons, striking him several times and fatally injuring him.
The identity of the victim will be released later on this morning according to authorities.
