Police Arrest Duo Accused of Paterson Carjacking

Police announced the arrest of a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old accused of carjacking a man at a Norwood Avenue home, police said.

According to victim, while he was siting on the porch he was approached by two males sometime around 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

The men -one armed with a handgun - demanded the man's car keys and other personal property.

The two then fled in the victim's 2010 Ford Edge that was parked in the driveway.

Police arrested the men in the area of Broadway and 30th Street at about 10:30 p.m.

Devon Wells, 19, of Paterson, and a 17-year-old Haledon boy (unidentified because he's a juvenile) were charged with armed robbery, possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The vehicle was recovered two blocks away from where the carjacking took place.

Wells was remanded to Passaic County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
