Authorities Identify East Orange Man Stabbed to Death

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and East Orange Police Chief William Robinson announced today that the East Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal stabbing.

The victim has been identified as Khalil A. Booker, 27, of East Orange.

Police said at  approximately 11:14 last night East Orange Police were dispatched to the 200 block of 19th Street on a report of a man suffering from a stab wound.

When they arrived they found Booker on the ground with a stab wound. He was transferred to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:29 pm.

His domestic partner, Amina Ragin, 25, of East Orange was taken into custody and was arrested by detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

She has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and weapons offenses. She is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark on $200,000 bail.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available. 

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
