Police Investigate Report of a Laundromat Beating in Bloomfield

Police are investigating a report of an assault on two people inside a Bloomfield laundromat Friday.

Bloomfield police responded to the Laundry Zone on Bloomfield Avenue shortly,after 5 p.m. on July 24 for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, a 25-year-old Newark man who was inside the laundromat told police he went outside to get something to drink. As he returned, the man claims being approached by a man and woman the got out of a 1997 Chevy. 

The victim who claims captured part of the incident on video, told police the woman was yelling and the man holding some sort bat or pipe followed him into the facility. 

The alleged attackers then became physical with a 23-year-old Newark woman who was also inside. When the male victim tried to intervene he was struck over the head by the male attacker, causing him to lose consciousness. 

When the male victim awoke he saw the attackers allegedly getting into the car as they drove off. 

Both victims were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Incident remains under investigation.
