A Roselle man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly trying to rob a man in Paterson with what police describe as a sharp blunt object.
Police on Ward and Cianci Streets were flagged down by a passerby sometime around 12:03 a.m., to report that a man, who was waiting for his wife to get out of work, was getting robbed.
According to reports, the suspect - Anthony McCormick, 51, of Roselle, approached the victim and tried to take the victim’s phone from his front pocket by displaying a sharp blunt object.
Responding officer initiated a foot pursuit that culminated in the arrest of McCormick.
McCormick provided false identities to the police officers. He was later identified as a 51-year-old from
He was charged with attempted robbery, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and resisting arrest.
McCormick is being held in city police lockup pending arraignment.
