Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a Linden man wanted for eluding Roselle Park police Wednesday morning.
Johansel Moronta ( aka Johansel Rafael Asmar), 22, of Linden, is wanted on a for 2nd degree Eluding and 4thdegree resisting arrest by the Roselle Park Police.
Wednesday around 1:45 a.m., police pulled Moronta - who was driving a 2012 Black Honda Civic 4 door registered to a family member - over after he failed to stop at a stop sign.
According to police, initially Moronta pulled over but then abruptly sped away from the area as the officer stepped out his patrol car. Moronta then fled through Locust Street in Roselle, crashing through a fence while trying to turn on W. 7thAve.
However, Moronta continued to flee in the vehicle as police pursued him with emergency lights and sirens.
Moronta then bailed out of the vehicle and abandoned it at the intersection of Chestnut Street and St. Georges Avenue in Linden.
Moronta was last seen running West on St. Georges Ave. The Honda was secured and a search warrant was granted by a Union County Superior Court Judge.
Inside the vehicle detectives located Moronta’s wallet with his identification and former employment identification from Fed Ex Ground in Keasby.
Despite attempts to locate Moronta at his residence he has not been found.
