Today Ali Muhammad Brown’s attorney, Albert Kapin, raised concerns if whether his client can be ensured fairness in the jury selection process for his upcoming armed robbery trial after all the media attention in connection with the Brendan Tevlin case and accusation that this was an act of terrorism.
Kapin want to just make sure that since the upcoming trial would only deal with the alleged robbery, Kaplin requests to make sure that jurors are unaware of Brown's other pending charges.
In order to assure a fair jury selection, a set of questions are going to ask during jury selection.
Jurors will also be instructed to refrain from researching case when jurors arrive to the courtroom because according to Superior Court Judge Michael Petrolle a prior instruction would invite them to do that research.
The robbery trial is scheduled for Oct. 5.
In connection to the killing of 19-year-old Brendan Tevlin, of Livingston on June 25, 2014, a nine-count indictment charging Brown with two counts of terrorism, one count of murder among other charges.
