A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed a late night shooting that killed one person in Irvington.
Residents said shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the area of Springfield Ave. and Durand Place multiple rounds of rang out sent heavy police presence to the scene where a search of the area found a male victim seriously injured by gunfire.
Police secured the area, establishing a crime scene where they looked for evidence and a possible suspect. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later according to the spokesperson for the prosecutor's office.
"I am not sure what there is to do anymore" a long time resident of the Durand Street said. " I don't have the money or the energy to move. People around here just need to behave" the resident continued.
The identity of the victim and further details will released later this morning according to the spokesperson.
