Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced today that a 17-year-old Fair Lawn teen has been charged with sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl during a summer enrichment program at Lyncrest Elementary School.
On July 6, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit were contacted by the Fair Lawn Police Department who reported that a juvenile forcibly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity, on numerous occasions, with a 6-year-old girl.
The ensuing investigation revealed that the incidents occurred at the English Language Learner (ELL) Summer Enrichment Program at the Lyncrest Elementary School in Fair Lawn.
The 17-year-old juvenile was a volunteer program counselor at the school and the victim was a student.
The juvenile was charged with one (1) count each of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and appeared before the Honorable Judge Gary N. Wilcox, J.S.C. on Tuesday, July 7.
