Update: Police Shoot, Killed Man Accused of Stabbing Man to Death Inside Atlantic City Market

Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting that killed a man accused of fatally stabbing an unidentified man inside an Atlantic City market this morning.

Atlantic City Police shot and killed an Atlantic City man after subsequently discovering the body of a second man inside an Atlantic City business, the apparent victim of a fatal stabbing, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit was immediately notified and responded to the scene to investigate.

Preliminary investigation determined that just before 8:30 a.m. today, Atlantic City police responded to a 9-1-1 call to the Cedar Market at Adriatic and Pennsylvania Avenues.

Upon arrival, police encountered a male outside who confronted police which lead to the shooting.

The suspect was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Campus where he was pronounced dead.

Inside the Cedar Market, police found the body of a man, dead of apparent stab wounds.

The identities of both deceased men are being withheld at this time, according to officials.

Detectives from the ACPO Major Crimes Unit are interviewing witnesses, processing the scene, and collecting any existing video of the confrontation.

Both autopsies are scheduled to be performed by the NJ State Medical Examiner’s Office tomorrow.
