Firefighters gained control of a fast moving fire while rescuing a trapped resident and two dogs from a Rahway home.
Crews responded to 1006 Apgar Terrace for a report of a fire with a woman trapped on the second floor shortly after 5 p.m., Chief William R. Young said.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire in the living room and flames coming from windows.
Crews were able to gain entry into the home where a search located the trapped woman in a second floor bedroom. Two dogs were also rescued from the blaze.
The victim was was transported to a local hospital for treatment. "It appears she will be ok," the chief said.
The fire was placed under control within 45 minutes.
The cause of the fire remain under investigation.
