An overnight shooting incident in Newark involving an off-duty cop has authorities investigating.
The unidentified officer was in the area of Central Avenue and South 9th Avenue when he was approached by two men, one of which displayed a gun.
The two men fled on foot after the cop fired one round from his own weapon.
According to officials, it does appear that either suspect was struck. However, we are actively investigating incident in accordance to standard protocol.
