Authorities have identified the body found in the Passaic River in Rutherford as the bridge inspector who fell into the water Monday.
Monday one of two bridge inspectors checking a footbridge near the President Street brook disappeared into the water after heavy rain caused water levels to quickly elevate.
The inspector later identified as Efrain Grajeda, 47, of Monroe Township fell in and despite search efforts police and fire departments from Bergen and Passaic counties on Monday into Tuesday, his body was not found. The body was finally recovered Wednesday morning shortly after 6 a.m. in the area of Union Avenue Bridge in Rutherford. Both inspectors were currently working under a bridge inspection program with the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
