New Jersey Transit Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that left a man injured late Sunday night, according to a statement released by NJ Transit.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 20, when Raritan Valley Line train 5538, en route to Newark Penn Station, struck an adult male trespasser near the Cedar Avenue crossing in Bound Brook.
The train had departed from Raritan at 10:15 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Newark by 11:15 p.m.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
Officials confirmed that none of the 55 passengers or crew members on board the train were injured.
Service on the line was temporarily suspended following the incident but has since resumed.

The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing and is being led by New Jersey Transit Police.
