Police in Bloomfield Township are actively searching for a 12-year-old girl who was reported missing after leaving her home under suspicious circumstances late Tuesday night.

According to a statement released by the Bloomfield Police Department, Avah DeLeon was reported missing by a family member on April 8, 2025.
The child allegedly told relatives she was going downstairs to get a glass of water, but instead changed out of her pajamas and left the residence without informing anyone.
Avah is described as being approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. While her exact clothing at the time of her disappearance is unknown, police believe she may be carrying a blue bag.
Authorities also noted that Avah has a history of leaving home, with her previous disappearance ending when she was located in Newark.
The young girl has been officially entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a missing person.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen Avah or has information on her whereabouts to contact the Bloomfield Police Department immediately at 973-680-4141.
The investigation remains active as officers continue efforts to bring her home safely.
