Police in Hillside are investigating a hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian seriously injured late Wednesday night.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the area of North Broad Street and Williamson Avenue at around 11 p.m. following reports of a person lying in the roadway.
Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified individual suffering from severe head injuries after being struck by a vehicle at the location.
The victim was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark, where they remain in serious condition.
The driver involved in the incident reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Officials have not yet released additional details regarding the victim or the suspect vehicle.
