NJ Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend After Argument

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Thursday, Michael Gillen, 29, of Mays Landing, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault in exchange for a five-year term in New Jersey State Prison.

Atlantic County officials say that on December 31, 2024, law enforcement responded to a residence for a report of a domestic violence incident in Hamilton Township.

When the police arrived, they met the victim, according to ACPO officials. The victim reported that the defendant, her ex-boyfriend, assaulted her after an argument.

As she was holding her child, the defendant hit the victim, Atlantic County authorities stated. 

ACPO officials said he then pulled her hair and choked her, causing her to lose consciousness.

The victim was later transported to the hospital, where she received treatment for her injuries, Atlantic County officials say. 

According to Atlantic County officials, sentencing is scheduled before the Honorable Dorothy Incarvito-Garrabrant, J.S.C., on May 2.
