Newark authorities are investigating a pedestrian strike that left an individual seriously injured on Friday evening.
According to police, the incident occurred just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Street and Park Avenue. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the victim bleeding heavily after being struck by a vehicle. 
Reports indicate the individual briefly lost consciousness following the impact.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment, where their condition was described as serious.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation, and further details have not been released.
