Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Clifton House

Newark New Jersey

Fire officials in Clifton are investigating a fire that destroyed a house overnight in the city.

The three-alarm blaze swept through a home in Clifton shortly after midnight at 7 Davidson Ave. leaving about four adults and six children displaced.

Firefighters arrived to the scene to find heavy fire in the basement of the home that eventually spread rapidly up to the attic.

Heavy smoke blanketed the area as Clifton firefighters, with mutual assistance from Bloomfield and Nutley worked for over an hour to bring the blaze under control.

There were no serious injuries reported, and no other structures were damaged.
