Newark Residents Wake Up to Cooler Temperatures as Warm Spell Fades

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Newark and the North Jersey region residents are starting their morning with temperatures similar to Tuesday, but any hopes of another springlike warm-up have faded.

Unlike yesterday’s brief taste of 70-degree weather, a cooldown begins today.

According to the National Weather Service, those stepping out for work or a morning walk will feel a mild but slightly chilly start.

Downtown Newark is currently at 51 degrees, though a light breeze is making it feel a bit cooler.

Sussex County is at 43 degrees, Morristown is reporting 49, and temperatures in Paterson and Edison are hovering around 47 and 48 degrees, respectively.

Today’s forecast from the NWS calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 55 degrees. A north wind at 6 to 8 mph will shift eastward by the afternoon.

Tonight, expect mostly cloudy conditions with a low around 38 degrees.

While the drastic swings in temperature may be over for now, it’s still a fairly mild start to the day.
