Newark Mother Charged in Death of 6-Year-Old Daughter

A Newark mother has been charged in connection with the tragic death of her 6-year-old daughter, authorities confirmed Monday.

According to preliminary reports, police were dispatched just before 9 a.m. to Building 19 on Stratford Place following a call about an injured person. 

Upon arrival, officers were directed to Apartment 2K, where they found ‘Ne’Miya Hall’, a 6-year-old girl, suffering from injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.

Despite emergency efforts, Ne’Miya was pronounced dead shortly after police arrived.

The child’s mother, Ms. Xyhirah T. Hall, was taken into custody and charged with abuse, endangerment, and neglect.

The exact cause of Ne’Miya’s death will be determined by the New Jersey Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, though investigators from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office spent several hours canvassing the apartment as part of their ongoing investigation.
