Authorities are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in Newark’s South Ward on Sunday night, with police actively searching for the suspect responsible.
According to preliminary reports, the incident took place around 9:40 p.m. near 54 Empire Street, where a ShotSpotter device detected multiple rounds of gunfire.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered shell casings, but no victims were found during their search of the area.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been reported at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
