Residents in Newark and the North Jersey region are starting their Sunday morning with below-freezing temperatures, making for a chilly trip to first worship services.

As the clocks spring forward for Daylight Saving Time, it's also a good reminder to change the batteries in smoke alarms and prepare for the warming trend ahead.
At 5 a.m., downtown Newark sits at 29 degrees, while Morristown wakes up to 24 degrees, Paterson at 27 degrees, and Edison at 26 degrees.
Sussex County is seeing the coldest temperatures at 23 degrees.
Fortunately, the cold will fade as the day progresses, paving the way for pleasant conditions as we move toward spring-like warmth in the upcoming week.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday’s forecast includes:
- Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53 degrees. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early in the morning.
- Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 38 degrees.
- Monday: Temperatures will climb into the 60s, bringing a much-needed taste of spring.
Enjoy your Sunday and prepare for warmer days ahead!
