Grab Your Umbrella – Evening Rain Set to Soak Newark, North Jersey Region

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

While the morning commute will dry, Newark residents and the North Jersey region should brace for a wet and messy evening. After a stretch of cold mornings, today starts off much milder at 47 degrees, though a brisk breeze is in the air. If you're getting the kids ready for the bus stop or heading out for a morning walk, a warm jacket is still recommended, but the biting chill of recent days has eased.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Temperatures will climb to a high near 53 degrees, with gusty west winds of 15 to 20 mph and occasional gusts reaching 35 mph.

By late afternoon, rain will begin moving in from the west, with heavy downpours expected at times. The storm will be fast-moving but could cause slick road conditions for the evening commute.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy early, gradually clearing with a low around 31 degrees.
