Authorities in Paterson are crediting ShotSpotter technology for alerting them to gunfire in the city early Monday morning, though no injuries were reported.
According to police, the system detected multiple shots around 3:50 a.m. in the vicinity of 121 North 3rd Street, prompting officers to respond to the scene.
Upon arrival, units located shell casings but found no victims after canvassing the neighborhood.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and police have not disclosed a motive for the gunfire.
The incident remains under active investigation.
