A massive multi-alarm fire tore through a section of Paterson on Sunday evening, destroying three homes and displacing approximately 50 individuals across 13 families. The American Red Cross is providing temporary housing, food, clothing, and other essential resources to those affected.
Firefighters from across Passaic County responded to the blaze, which erupted inside a home at 491 Totowa Avenue shortly before 5 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy flames shooting from the windows and roof of the two-and-a-half-story wood-framed house.
Despite firefighters' swift efforts to contain the fire, the flames quickly spread to neighboring homes, prompting officials to strike as many as five alarms for additional manpower.
Crews battled intense heat and thick smoke while working to ensure all residents were evacuated safely.
At least one firefighter sustained minor burns but was treated at the scene. The fire was brought under control after approximately two hours, though the cause remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist displaced families as recovery efforts begin.
