Authorities in Jersey City are searching for a suspect involved in a violent shooting that left a man hospitalized overnight.
According to police, the incident occurred shortly before 11:32 p.m. when a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the vicinity of 59 Rutgers Avenue.
Multiple police units were dispatched to the area to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders transported the victim to Jersey City Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment and is expected to recover.
Police have not yet announced any arrests, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under active investigation.
Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as they work to identify and locate the suspect.
