Authorities in West Essex County have taken four burglary suspects into custody after police caught them attempting to break into properties in the North Caldwell and West Caldwell areas around 3:30 a.m.
According to initial information, officers spotted the suspects in a vehicle driving through neighborhoods near Eton Drive, allegedly searching for homes to burglarize.
When police attempted to pull the vehicle over, the suspects fled on foot, prompting a large-scale search operation with assistance from Fairfield police and other nearby departments.
After an extensive search through the residential community, officers were able to apprehend all four suspects.
A subsequent search of their vehicle uncovered two firearms, though no injuries were reported during the incident.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and authorities have not yet released the identities of the suspects.
Authorities around the state continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
