A man was arrested after allegedly opening fire inside a private residence on Knickerbocker Road, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and a subsequent investigation by local authorities.
According to a statement released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, 61-year-old Tyrone A. Prioleau of Englewood was taken into custody following an investigation led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Englewood Police Department, led by Chief Thomas Greeley.
The incident occurred on Friday, January 31, 2025, at approximately 1:28 p.m., when Englewood police responded to reports of a disturbance involving a firearm inside a residence.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had discharged a weapon before fleeing the scene.
Investigators determined that Prioleau had allegedly fired his weapon in the direction of two individuals inside the home.
Fortunately, neither of the victims was struck, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities swiftly launched a joint investigation, which resulted in Prioleau’s arrest later that day.
He now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, and obstruction of justice.
Prioleau remains in custody as he awaits his initial court appearance.
Prosecutors have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of the incident or a potential motive.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full scope of the events leading up to the shooting.
