Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Residents in Newark and the North Jersey region can expect a relatively calm day today, but wintry conditions are on the horizon as a winter weather advisory is set to take effect by tomorrow. Snow and freezing rain are expected to move into the area, potentially making travel hazardous.

This morning, temperatures have dropped significantly, with partly cloudy skies and a breezy start at 27 degrees.

Those heading out to work or school should bundle up, as wind chill values make it feel even colder.

According to the National Weather Service, today's forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 35 degrees.

Wind chill values will hover between 20 and 30, with a north wind of 3 to 7 mph.

Tonight, winter weather will begin to move in, bringing a chance of snow between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., followed by a mix of snow and sleet.

The low will be around 28 degrees, making for potentially slick conditions into the morning commute.

Residents should prepare for possible icy roads and slow travel times. Stay warm and stay safe, New Jersey!
