Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning in Edison, according to a statement released by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. 
At approximately 12:07 a.m., law enforcement responded to a crash at Route 1 and Grandview Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles involved in the collision.
One of the vehicles, a Ford Explorer, was driven by a 48-year-old man from Brooklyn, NY.
He sustained minor injuries and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was treated and later released.
The second vehicle, a Mitsubishi, was operated by 36-year-old Makiano Francois of Irvington. Francois suffered severe injuries and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation remains ongoing.
