Slick Roads and Slow Commutes: Newark Wakes Up to Icy Conditions

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Residents in Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to slick roads and icy conditions Tuesday morning following overnight snowfall that left 1-2 inches of accumulation on the ground.

With temperatures at 33 degrees, much of the snow will begin to clear as the day progresses. However, early morning commuters should exercise caution, as icy patches may still linger on roadways.

Drivers are urged to reduce speeds and allow extra travel time.

According to the National Weather Service, the region will see a 30 percent chance of snow later this afternoon, with partly sunny skies and a high near 36 degrees.

Tonight, snowfall is likely, mainly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m., with temperatures hovering around 33 degrees.

As the winter weather continues, residents should stay alert for changing road conditions and prepare accordingly for a slower-than-usual commute.

Stay safe and have a great day, New Jersey!
