A bomb threat this afternoon cleared a portion of the White House during a press briefing.
Washington police received the called shortly before 2 p.m. leading to the evacuation of the press briefing room. President Obama, who according to reports was in the West Wing, was not affected.
Authorities deemed the area safe about half an hour later and the press briefing resumed.
Early today, a second threat was phoned in forcing part of the Dirksen Senate Office Building to be evacuated around noon.
Authorities have not confirmed any connection between the two threats.
