Newark police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in the city's West Ward on Monday evening.
According to officials, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 15th Avenue shortly before 7:40 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers located evidence confirming a shooting had taken place and called in Newark's Shooting Response Team to assist with the investigation.
During a canvass of the community, no injuries were reported. Authorities believe robbery may have been the motive behind the shooting, but the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
