Carteret

By: Najla Alexander

Hi, RLS Media family and friends. Najla here! Nearly a month into the 2025 New Year, where Carteret already had some fantastic events, exciting new restaurants opened, and even further work in the Carteret community to make it shine even brighter. This town is filled with unique individuals striving every day while their community supports them, and the one I saw is truly making a name for herself!AdRemember that young student who takes the initiative by being able to balance their business while going to college? Well, Sinae Vega, who owns @nailsbynaex._, is striving more than you would have ever thought this New Year!

“My goal for ‘25 is to go to Cosmo school to grow every and any way I can!” Sinae exclaimed as she explained her New Year’s Goals as a young nail tech.

Sinae Vega, a 19-year-old nail tech based in Middlesex County, has been officially taking clients for over a year, and nothing stops her, who took the love she found as a young girl and ran with it. She described this journey as a great one in which she was able to grow and thrive in her business.

“I have loved getting my nails done since I was small or painting my own nails, and my mom, aunt, and grandma always told me I should be a nail tech when I got older. I used to think they were being dramatic, but the older I got, the more I wanted to try on my own. Slowly, things progressed over time, and I'm happy to say I have my own business with nails!” Sinae explained.

Ms. Vega has grown her clientele substantially in the past year by maintaining and promoting on social platforms, such as Instagram, where she gained hundreds of followers. She even created/cultivated a booking website that clients, new and old, can use to schedule appointments, describing precisely to the artist what they would like and the prices for each.

This has made it easier for her and her clients, giving repeat clients a chance to become loyal customers. In gaining such a following, she created business cards with her clients expanding and returning. One card promotes Ms. Vega’s Instagram/Business sites; the other is a punch card where you can get a free set if you return enough times. Even having a QR code on the back allows those who want to model for her to promote her business, and she will then give sets for the models at discounted prices.

“The business of making people feel pretty, especially the compliments received from clients, it’s such a heartwarming feeling,” she said.

Without fail, Sinae can put her clients at ease right away. Whether it's the environment, working with your schedule when booking, or even fixing something that got broken, she is right there to help in any way she can!

I love the end result of having my nails done, but the process is another story. All the cutting and shaving down can get to a person, making them uncomfortable during a session, but how Sinae takes care of her clients makes me forget about the process.

You feel the warmth in her home, how welcoming her family is, being greeted by such an energetic furry friend at the door, and catering to your needs, even if it’s just for water or a phone stand. It’s the little things that matter and what clients remember. Even getting used to whatever is playing in the background, from Bad Bunny music to episodes of Bob Burger playing on repeat, you are never bored as a client of Sinae Vega!

Being a quiet person, she makes sure to keep up with how I have been doing. At my last appointment, she surprised me with her new hand massage service after my nails were done. As a writer, Sinae took the time to add that service, which I truly appreciated. It is yet another thing that makes her stand out from other at-home nail techs.

Even her mom likes to make clients coffee or ask if they need water. It’s truly amazing the warmth you feel at every appointment. Not only is she very good with communication during appointments, but her prices are more affordable. While having another job on the side and trying to relax at home in her free time, all her time is still dedicated to her business thriving!

“I see myself having a very successful business this year. So far, it's been great, and it’s only going up from here,” Sinae exclaimed.

A young woman who knows how to balance a college student's work and the life of someone whose business is out of their home shows how much a community where stories like hers can be found and told. So, the community may be able to support and watch them grow to do what they have always wanted to do in this life.

This winter has been insane, and weather like that makes me never want to leave the warmth of my house, but not the clients who come to Ms. Sinae Vega. Sinae has proven time and time again how much her passion and drive will push her to reach her goals, and they have. She is still coming up and has so many ideas for the future of her business, but all you can do for her is watch her climb with lights in her eyes!

“I hope my story being out there pushes people who are reading to never let anything get in the way of what you know you want for yourself. Never let anything discourage what you truly love doing,” Sinae stated.

There you have it: the story of a young woman growing her own success in a small NJ town, allowing her to reach out and connect in her community. I am so proud to be a part of that. Check out @nailsbynaex._ for all your nail needs and wants. Here, you can have your nail fantasies come true—you won’t regret it!
