Man Arrested for Killing Woman in Carteret Crash

Authorities in Middlesex County announced that a Carteret man had been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal crash that occurred on January 11 in the Borough of Carteret.AdMiddlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone stated that on January 11, at approximately 9:55 p.m., the Carteret Police Department received a 911 call reporting a crash on the West Carteret Bridge on Roosevelt Avenue.

Upon their arrival, authorities found an Infiniti and Toyota Camry that were involved in the crash, Carteret Police said. 

According to MCPO officials, the Infiniti was operated by Cristina Flores, 34, of the Avenel section of Woodbridge; Flores sustained serious injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, Jair Montero-Moran, 23, of Carteret, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he has since remained, Middlesex County authorities said. 

Carteret Police stated that an investigation led by Detective Eric Guzman of the Carteret Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Montero-Moran caused the crash.

Middlesex County officials said that on January 23, Montero-Moran was arrested and charged with first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter and second-degree Vehicular Homicide.AdAnyone with information or surveillance footage of the area is asked to call Detective Eric Guzman of the Carteret Police Department at 732-541-4181 or Detective Matthew Colonna at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3354.
