BREAKING: 2.4 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Bergen County

A minor earthquake shook parts of Bergen County on Friday afternoon, according to a statement released by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).AdThe 2.4 magnitude quake struck shortly after 1 p.m. and was centered southeast of Paramus.  

In response to the tremor, the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management confirmed the earthquake and advised residents to call 911 only for emergencies.

“We are confirming an earthquake through the USGS that has impacted the Paramus area. It is reported to be a magnitude of 2.4,” officials stated.  

As of now, no significant damage or injuries have been reported.

The county’s emergency management office assured the public they are monitoring the situation closely and will issue updates as needed.  

While minor earthquakes are uncommon in New Jersey, they occasionally occur, reminding residents of the state’s geological activity.AdOfficials emphasized the importance of staying alert and reporting any unusual circumstances to local authorities.
