According to a statement released by the Newark Police Department, detectives are on the lookout for a "slipper-wearing bandit" who stole children's toys from a porch on December 31, 2024.
The incident occurred while the homeowner briefly stepped out, leaving recently delivered packages unattended on Fabyan Place near Beverly Street.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 8:30 a.m. to find that the packages had been opened and their contents taken.Among the stolen items were a Disney Junior Mickey remote control fire truck and Hot Wheels toy monster trucks—presumably intended for a young recipient.
Detectives have released a description of the suspect, who is said to have a dark brown complexion and was last seen rocking a bold outfit: pink pants with black and white stripes down the sides, a pink top, a white or beige hooded jacket, and the pièce de résistance—black fuzzy slippers.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is urging anyone with information about the slipper-wearing suspect to contact the Newark Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
