ALERT: Suspect Wanted for Slapping NJ Transit Bus Driver in Newark

Newark authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in the assault of an NJ Transit bus driver late last year.  AdAccording to information released by Newark police officials, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Lyons Avenue and Parkview Terrace following reports that a male suspect had struck a female bus driver after a verbal altercation.  

The confrontation began when the suspect attempted to flag down the bus at a location that was not an official stop.

When the driver continued to the next designated stop, the man boarded the bus and engaged in a heated exchange with her.

During the argument, police said he slapped the driver before exiting the bus.  

Detectives describe the suspect as wearing all-black clothing and a black hat at the time of the incident. He is further identified by his red and black hair.  

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could lead to the identification of the suspect to come forward.AdThe Newark Police Division continues to investigate the matter, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in resolving cases of violence against public service employees.
