Frigid Start to the Day as Newark Wakes Up to Bitter Cold Temperatures

Newark residents are waking up to a frigid 22 degrees this morning, but with wind chill, it feels much closer to single digits.

The cold is even more severe in areas like Morris, Sussex, and parts of Passaic County, where temperatures hover near zero when wind chill is factored in.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny, but the high will only reach around 31 degrees.

Wind chill values will make it feel between 5 and 15 degrees, with blustery northwest winds reaching speeds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts as high as 38 mph.

Tonight’s forecast calls for mostly clear skies with a low of 21 degrees. Wind chill values are expected to drop between 10 and 15 degrees.
