Bitter Cold Grips Newark as Light Snow Expected in Parts of New Jersey

Newark is waking up to a frigid start on this first Monday of 2025, with temperatures plunging to a bitter 27 degrees.SupportAs the day begins, residents are advised to bundle up if heading out to the bus stop or warming up their cars.

While North Jersey will experience light snow, the southern parts of the state are bracing for more significant accumulation.

Temperatures are expected to struggle to rise above freezing, making for a cold and wintry day across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow is expected to develop after 7 a.m., with a high near 31 degrees. Wind chill values will make it feel between 25 and 30 degrees.

Winds will remain calm, shifting north at around 6 mph by the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 80%, though snow accumulation is expected to stay under one inch.

By evening, there is a 30% chance of light snow before 7 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to stay safe and dress warmly, especially in areas forecasted to receive more significant snowfall.
