Newark police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the city's North Ward on Saturday evening.
Authorities were alerted to the gunfire around 8:40 p.m. when a ShotSpotter device activated in the area of 412 2nd Avenue.
Officers responded swiftly, securing the area and locating several shell casings at the scene.
After conducting a thorough search of the neighborhood, no victims were found.
Newark’s Shooting Response Team was called in to assist with the investigation.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. The incident is currently under active investigation.
