Newark Police are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday night in the city’s Lower West Ward, though no injuries have been reported.
Gunfire erupted around 9:30 p.m. in the 90s block of Littleton Avenue in the Fairmont section, prompting a swift police response.
Upon arrival, officers secured the area and found evidence confirming that a shooting had occurred.
As part of the investigation, authorities checked nearby hospitals for possible victims but determined that no one had been injured.
The suspect fled the scene, and no arrests have been made at this time. Newark’s Shooting Response Team was present to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and police continue to gather information.
