Residents in Newark and the broader North Jersey area are experiencing a milder but wetter start to their day, as a warm front has brought continuous rain since the overnight hours.

Amid ongoing holiday celebrations and Kwanzaa, the region is set to face a rainy and cloudy day, with temperatures feeling relatively balmy compared to the recent chilly spell.

According to the National Weather Service, today's weather will feature rain primarily before 1 p.m., followed by possible drizzle or light rain later in the afternoon.

Highs are expected to reach around 44 degrees with light and variable winds.

However, in Sussex County, temperatures hovering around freezing could turn rain into ice, making driving treacherous.

Tonight, the area will see more drizzle or light rain, with lows maintaining a mild 41 degrees and a 90% chance of precipitation.
