Newark authorities are actively searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in the West Ward late Friday evening.
Police were called to the scene at 639 South 19th Street around 10 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified male with a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to University Hospital, though his condition has not yet been disclosed.
The Newark Shooting Response Team has joined the investigation to help determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As of now, no additional injuries have been reported. The investigation is ongoing as police work to apprehend the suspect.
