NJ Property Manager Charged in Over $1M Theft, Forgery Scheme

Authorities in Union County announced that an extensive investigation has led to the arrest of a Morris Plains woman on multiple charges of theft and forgery.AdUnion County Prosecutor William A. Daniel stated that Martinia Heath, 43, was charged with one count of second-degree theft by deception, one count of second-degree impersonation, and one count each of third —and fourth-degree forgery.

Initiated by a referral from Corner Property Management of Springfield, an investigation led by Sergeant Alex Lopez of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecutions Unit revealed that while employed as the on-site property manager at the Mountain Club Condominium complex in Morris County, Ms. Heath engaged in an elaborate scheme to defraud the company, Union County officials said. 

According to Union County officials, the investigation revealed that Ms. Heath falsified records and correspondence, including fabricated invoices, which resulted in a financial loss to Corner Property of more than $1 million between 2019 and 2023.

Ms. Heath is scheduled to make her first court appearance in Union County on January 30, 2025, Prosecutor William A. Daniel stated.
