Newark Police are investigating a shooting incident that left two individuals injured in the South Ward on Monday night.
The incident occurred around 9:55 p.m. near 168 Seymour Avenue, where a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire.
Upon arriving, officers discovered one victim with bullet wounds who was promptly transported to University Hospital for treatment; however, the severity of the injuries has not been disclosed.
During the investigation at the scene, University Hospital informed the police of a second victim who sought emergency care for gunshot wounds, arriving via a private vehicle, which was subsequently secured by the authorities for further examination.
Police suspect this individual was also injured in the Seymour Avenue incident, linking both victims to the same shooting.
No arrests have been made as the investigation continues. Detectives are actively gathering evidence to ascertain the details surrounding the violent occurrence.
