Good Saturday morning, New Jersey! The Newark and North Jersey region is waking up to freezing temperatures, with bone-chilling cold lingering from the week and spilling into the weekend.
Downtown Newark begins the day at a frigid 19 degrees, while parts of Sussex, Morris, and Passaic counties are near the single digits.
This clear-skied morning reminds us of winter’s grip, as temperatures are expected to remain brutally cold throughout the day.
If you’re planning to head out, bundle up with a coat, hat, scarf, and anything else to keep warm.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast includes sunshine, but it won’t do much to lift the chill. Highs will only reach near 37 degrees, with wind chill values making it feel between 15 and 25.
A north wind at 7 mph will keep the cold persistent.
Tonight, the forecast remains mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to a low of 24 degrees.Today might be the perfect day to hunker down, relax indoors, and avoid the icy cold conditions.
Stay warm, New Jersey!
